A Healthy Body Helps Defend Against Breast Cancer

There are a lot of women who fight breast cancer every single day of the year. It is estimated that one woman is having a test done every second to see if they have the dreaded illness of breast cancer. What if the test is positive? Is that it? Are you done? I think not!

 

First of all there are many things that women can do to reduce the chances of breast cancer before they ever get to that point. Aside from the things you cannot control such as heredity, if you had a great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister, or cousin, who had breast cancer, you may get it to. If your menstrual cycle starts too soon, before about age 12, or menopause starts too late, after age 50 your odds are increased. Over indulgence in alcohol is not good either and smoking has been shown to contribute to breast cancer.

 

There are things that you can control that will greatly reduce the risk of breast cancer. Some of the things you can do is control your diet and get plenty of exercise. A diet that consist of foods containing or cooked in saturated fats is bad. Monounsaturated fats like canola oil and olive oil does not appear to cause or increase the chance of breast cancer. There are other foods that will help reduce the odds also.

 

If you are one of those that has been unlucky enough to find out that you have tested positive for breast cancer, fight back. Life is certainly not over. In addition to what the doctor may prescribe for you, do some research. There are several methods, techniques, diets, exercise and alternative treatment options that along with what your doctor prescribes, will give you an excellent chance of winning the battle.

 

There are a number of guides and booklets that will arm you with the knowledge you need to make some of the most important decisions of your life. Do the research. The information is there, all you have to do is act on it.
